“A ship in harbor is safe, but that’s not what ships are built for.” – John A. Shedd
This is my coffee quote, the one I now contemplate with my first sip of steamy caffeine in the morning. It’s a wake-up call, an encouraging reminder that for the next 24 hours I have a mission: to leave my comfort zone at the docks.
Whether it’s to travel the world at large and put my flag down on every continent, or to face an internal challenge head on, courage is required.
This early morning ritual has made me choose more adventuresome choices. When given the option to hibernate in comfort or stretch myself with a challenge, I always choose the later.
It’s not hard to do when we remind ourselves every 24 hours that we’re at our best when we leave port. Like a ship, we’re built for adventure.
